Camping is a team sport.
Electric Castle turns a field into a temporary neighbourhood.
For a few days, thousands of people sleep a few metres away from strangers. Among them, someone knows how to pitch a tent, someone has a pump, another person has tape. Someone holds the poles while you figure out where the last one goes.
Here, nobody arrives completely prepared, and that’s precisely why camping works better when people help each other. Outdoor culture often celebrates expertise, performance and having the right gear. Decathlon can play a different role: the campsite’s “boy scout”: practical and always ready to help. It’s the person you go to when something goes wrong, and the person who teaches you enough to help someone else afterwards.
Decathlon turns its Electric Castle presence into the HQ of the campsite community: a place where knowledge, tools and gear move from one camper to another. It’s not a shop and most definitely not a product showroom. The experience follows the natural life of the festival campsite.
PITCH IT.
The first challenge comes before the first concert:
Tents refuse to cooperate. Mattresses need inflating. Instructions suddenly stop making sense. At the Decathlon Camp HQ, campers find pumps, tools and people who can show them how to get their camp up and running.
The point is to make sure that the next time someone asks for help, they know what to do.
PATCH IT.
For a few days, the campsite becomes home, and homes need fixing. A broken zip, a punctured mattress or a torn tent shouldn’t mean throwing something away, or ending the weekend early. The Decathlon Repair Table gives campers the tools, spare materials and know-how to fix their own equipment alongside other campers.
PASS IT ON.
Then the festival ends… but not everything people brought with them needs to become waste. Campers who no longer want to take usable equipment home can leave it at the Decathlon Pass It On point, where it can be checked, repaired where necessary and prepared for a second life. What one campsite no longer needs can become someone else’s beginning.
The role of Decathlon
Decathlon isn’t the one making the campsite community, it simply gives it what every good team needs: someone who came prepared.
Someone who knows, who shares, someone who makes it easier for everyone else to do the same.
